A Perfect Evening with an American TroubadorMay 23, 2004
By Phil Studenberg
"Cowboy in the Jungle"
This DVD captures Jerry Jeff at his best. Beatiful ballads, some rockers like Red Neck Mother and Trashy Women and just enough stories and B.S. to keep it from being boring. He's in great voice and it's just him and his guitar. Settle in with your favorite beverage, a good companion and enjoy this intimate concert.

Wit, Wisdom, and Texas MusicJun 09, 2004

Jerry Jeff Walker's a lucky man. Mr. Bojangles (he wrote the song) gave him the ability to play, make mistakes, and learn a whole bunch about people and the world. He shares his experiences here in a rare solo performance. Most of his songs are about characters he has run into - Stoney, Charlie Dunn, Hondo Crouch, many more.If you like folk music and want to hear a "gypsy songman" play his songs and tell his stories (and learn a thing or two in the process), this DVD is for you. The only thing that keeps this DVD from being timeless is the unnecessary political commentary.

You will want to hit the road and quit your jobMay 02, 2007
By Larry R. Johnson It has been many years since the days of "Jacky Jack" when Jerry Jeff would hit the stage lit up like a Christmas tree and 20,000 long haired country boys (and girls)equally lit would join in for Red Neck Mother and L.A. Freeway but make no mistake, Jerry Jeff still has that twinkle in his eye from many a interesting night and hung over day. The One and Only is a trip down memory lane for those of us who have switched from Jack Daniels to red wine and now see Mr. Bojangles in venues that hold a couple of thousand people, not 10,000 drunken maniacs. But what a trip it is. Jerry Jeff is reflective, funny, and at times poetic. It is also nice to remember that our musical icons used to hit the road to find stories and hone their craft instead of hiring marketing managers and cutting deals with Wal Mart to sell records. If your too young to remember when Walker was at the heart of the 1970's Austin / Country-Alt Music scene, watch this DVD and I bet you will want to quit your job, dust of the guitar and hit the road.

By Willie Boy One of my favorite, most watched DVD's that I have.. A real gem for the taking... I guess I am a little late with this review considering it is now discontinued, but it is soo good I must comment on its greatness... The video is up close and personal, you almost feel like Jerry Jeff himself is right there with you... Literally!! Get ready for a nice quiet evening with the Redneck Mother himself.
Highly Recommended !!

I couldn't wait to get my hands on this Video. Now that I have, it's one of my favorite treasures. It took me this long to discover JJW, and now I've got him trapped up, all for myself, on my vidwo rack -- straight from his Austin zip code.
This is a great video experience. Pour a glass of red wine to watch it the first time, and chill a big bottle of wonderful Champagne for the next.
Outstanding keepsake recording. Yes, he IS the one and only ... Tried and True, Jerry Jeff Walker! Bravo! What a great, great, talent!
