Live Recordings from the Church Street StationAug 27, 2007
By Alan L. Brockett The cover of this DVD is a little misleading, with a pic of GJ from the 50's or 60's. This is actually an expanded version of the concert that is on the "Double Shot" DVD featuring George Jones and Gene Watson. This DVD is the full GJ concert from that night, there are some intermissions with guests Johnny Rodriguez and Mark Gray. The complete track listing on this DVD is: Intro, no show jones, i always get lucky with you, she's my rock, chicken reel, north of the border (rodriquez), love me with all your heart (rodriquez), who's gonna fill their shoes, diamond in the dust (mark gray), back when love was enough (gray) the race is on, bartender blues, he stopped loving her today, who's gonna chop my baby's kindlin', the one i loved back then.

A nice find for Possum fansAug 15, 2004

BCI Eclipse is the producer of this budget-priced DVD. Also known as Brentwood, they're the ones that have those 20 movies you never heard of on 5 DVD packages for 15 bucks that you see in stores everywhere. They also have the DVD, Merle Haggard - In Concert, which you might have seen.
This DVD is better, but shorter at almost 45 minutes. It has George in front of a club audience in Lafayette, Louisiana in 1983 and was probably shown later on the Nashville Network in an hour-long program (including commercials). It has fade-outs after most of the songs, so it was produced for TV. The direction is awful at times. The picture and sound are great for a value-priced DVD.
George often seems confused, probably from whatever he was drinking that evening. He's in fine voice, though.
The only other feature is a scrolling bio that has If Drinking Don't Kill Me playing in the background that takes a little over a minute. Also has chapter access for the songs. That's it. 5 stars for a cheap, enjoyable George Jones DVD.
The songs:
Once You've Had The Best
The Race Is On
Bartender's Blues
You Better Treat Your Man Right
If Drinking Don't Kill Me
Shine On
I'm Not Ready Yet
Why Baby Why
He Stopped Loving Her Today
White Lightnin'
Jambalaya (with Lacy J. Dalton)
You Win Again (with Terry Gibbs)
She Thinks I Still Care
A Picture Of Me Without You

I was thrilled to see this DVD of George Jones in Concert. He is in great voice....it's fabulous. I have watched it over and over again. For a "real" George Jones fan, this is a must for your collection. Love it!
George Jones: Live In ConcertNov 16, 2010
By rgmj62 This is the concert I've been looking for - and it's on dvd! There are clips of it on Youtube but being a George Jones fan, I wanted to see all of it. And yes, it seems the camera man is a little confused at times BUT George SOUNDS GREAT! It was filmed in Lafayette, LA in the early 80's as previously stated here on Amazon.com. This is a "must-have" for a TRUE George Jones fan, however for the casual fan, I recommend the Knoxville, Tennessee dvd.

Review of George Jones, Live in ConcertOct 28, 2004
By C. OBrien This is really a poor video. George sings well, but looks uncomfortable, as though he would rather not be there. The camera man taking the footage must have been sleeping. Really poor camera shots of the band. None of the band look as though they are having a good time.
