Country Music's Finest Voice!Sep 16, 2007

"Amazon Freak"
This DVD is absolutely awesome! I have only one complaint...it was not long enough! It is a live show of Gene Watson done several years ago when he was a lot younger but his voice is uncomparable. It has been said that he is a singer's singer. The other country stars envy him and love to hear him sing too!

GENE WATSON JUST PLAIN RULESDec 05, 2008

"FrankDel"
The packaging is pretty awful, displaying a modern day Gene Watson, assuming more people will buy it if fooled into believing it is a newer performance. Not so. We crave older Gene product, especially something as rarified and great as this show here filmed in Florida sometime in the early 80's ( it looks to be about 1982/83 from what I can tell off the outfits the urban cowboy set is wearing.) His singing here is beyond compare, Gene is in the same class as Charlie Rich, George Jones, Conway Twitty, Charley Pride- he is one of the finest country singers we have ever had, his artistry rich and soulful, thoughtful and gripping. This show is worth owning for you will go back again and again when you witness Gene sink his chompers into "14 Carat Mind" or the weeping genius of "Farewell Party," plus my super fave "Love In The hot Afternoon." Absolutely worth it. They just have to change the aesthetic of the art work into something a bit more timeless and cool and it may sell a few more copies.

Gene Watson DVDOct 30, 2007
By Robert Ingraham I love Gene Watson but the mixing quality is very poor and the last three or four songs are by some woman I have never heard of and there is no mention of it in the product advertisement. A poor investment.

Not up to Gene Watson's standardDec 26, 2007
By Woody This video smacks of someone having the rights to the video and putting it out on DVD to make a quick buck. Don't be fooled by the recent pictures on the cover of the DVD. The footage is very old; I would say the early 80's based upon the clothes styles. The editing of the video is very amateurish, often breaking in a few notes after the songs have started. I suspect the sound is in mono. The 4 songs by "special guest" Denice Price at the end appear tacked on just to add to the run time. Despite this, the quality of Gene's voice does come shining through. Gene Watson is arguably the best pure singer in country music. He deserves better than this DVD.
Really??May 25, 2012
By Craig Anders How can anyone complain about this dvd - quality, etc.? Gene is so awesome live and this is a rare glimpse of it (no autotune needed)! The way he sings My Farewell Party is incredible, one of the best live country performances EVER! This dvd is only ten bucks and well worth it to watch and hear the master at work. Hey Country Music Hall of Fame... it's amazing how you haven't inducted Gene when he sings circles around most that are inducted?!
