Winter and Derringer smokeJan 19, 2003

"Mike From SJ"
Rick Derringer is the best in my opinion, this DVD proves it. Even on "Hang on Sloppy" he innovates, playing some exciting harmonies on the guitar that make it a whole new song. "I Play Guitar" is great, even the couple mistakes he makes singing only make the song more powerful and authentic. Edgar is extremely talented, showing how much of a master sax playing he really is, but I ,myself, have played guitar in the past and just am in awe of Derringer. The production of the DVD is good with just enough shots of the audience. In closing, I hadn't realized how tall Edgar is, I am wondering exactly how tall he is? Anyway, if you like Edgar or Rick check it out- you will be happy.

Pretty good but just for collectorsAug 06, 2005
By Buzzsaw Good for big Edgar fans to see Derringer with him, but overall their performances not up to their previous standards, especially the vocals. If you're going to buy just one Edgar video, get Live at the Galaxy, that's good. I saw them together live years ago and know what they can really do. Only get this if you want to see Derringer with him. The rest of the band does a good job. Quality of video/audio is okay.
Is this the same as Live in Japan?Apr 01, 2012

TWO FOR THE SHOWJun 18, 2010
By Jukebox Dave EDGAR WINTER & RICK DERRINGER-IN CONCERT (DVD): Blooze-rocker Edgar Winter and axe attacker Rick Derringer have played together off and on for decades, most recently in RINGO'S ALL STARR BAND. This eight tune live outing is evenly split between the pair on their biggest hits (two apiece) and other choice material. Edgar acquits himself nicely on classic White Trash workout KEEP PLAYIN' THAT ROCK 'N ROLL and showstoppin' RNB staple TOBACCO ROAD, stretching the latter into an extended scat vocal vs. guitar duel with the dexterous Derringer. His lead singing on FREE RIDE is an acceptable substitute for blue-eyed soulster Dan Hartman, who belted the original with the Edgar Winter Group, while elongated encore FRANKENSTEIN spotlights the Texas Tornado multi-tasking on sax, synth, and timbales. The slightly "long in the tooth" looking Derringer unearths both the '65 sock hop anthem HANG ON SLOOPY (which he scored with as a mere teenager) and perrenial party-pleaser ROCK 'N ROLL HOOCHIE KOO, on which not even Winter can reproduce the gospel grabbin' female backing vocals of the original version. But when two cool cats inject as much fun, energy, and pure nostalgia as they manage on IN CONCERT, who's to complain?
