Edgar Winter- Master MusicianNov 16, 2002
By Paul Schmitt Watching Edgar Winter play reminds me of why I started playing and loving the blues in the first place. Just the pure soul of it.He reminds me of the kid in school that never had to study for the math exam. It just comes so naturally to him it's like he's always been playing. This performance is from 1988 and features guest Leon Russell on piano and vocals.Anytime you're featured as the primary performer in a concert, you'd better be good, and Edgar doesn't disappoint. It's pure energy from the beginning as the band launches into the blues standard "Key to the Highway" and turns in classics like"Dixie Lullaby"(a Leon favorite),"Lady Blue","Fly Away" and "Free Ride". The band does a good job supporting the two artists, but it's Edgar that really steals the show. The man can play saxophone! The only flaw I can find here is that the sound could have been mixed a little clearer, but hey, why would you get rid of a classic Picasso because of a ding on the frame? All in all it was a pleasant suprise from Edgar and Leon. I would recommend that any aspiring saxophonist listen to and absorb as much Edgar Winter as possible. You'd be hard pressed to find a better teacher.

Leon Russell featuring Edgar WinterJan 16, 2004
By Michael L. Powell Being a 30 year fan of Leon and watching him perform from 60,000 to 600 people in concert, this concert is from his touring with Edgar during the late 80's . It is a Leon concert with Edgar not vice-versa . Not to say Edgar is not awesome also , however people should know the Master of Space and Time is The star!!!

Well always wanted to see how this guy plays, seen his bro 3 times all the way back to the 80's. but this is lame, guess you have to be into it? the sound is bad, could be from where they were playing and/or what they used to record it with.
also its nothing inspired, they are all just standing and sitting, hanging out. bought it and sold it right away, didnt even need to show anyone, thats how lame it is. But Johnny Winter! woohooo!!
Listened with Sennheiser 595's, the best that I have found, had 555 for a couple years they are nice too, but cant touch 595's, pay the dif and see, er I mean hear.
