What a difference...they still have it!!Nov 05, 2003
By Anthony V. Fioravanti First of all, this DVD was aired live in March of 2003. If you've seen Hall & Oates live in concert or just seen a live video of them, you will totally appreciate this spontaneous concert. Hall & Oates blend music brilliance with comedy and audience interaction. Yes, they play smaller venues now, but the show has gotten better and the songs have evolved throughout the years. They did new songs with many re-worked classics, some even in acoustic form, which entertained the NY crowd and America "live" for 90 minutes, providing great Rock 'N Soul music. Daryl Hall proves to be one of the best vocalists of the 70s through the present, especially with his rendition of the "caught-off-guard" phone request, Me & Mrs. Jones. What a difference in sound quality as compared to the original A&E Live By Request aired program. The producers of this DVD removed all the phone calls and allowed the final song (No Can Do) to play until it was completed. So, it was like the phone calls never existed. The broadcast had a lot of replaying song parts for commercial breaks. These are no longer present. The DVD also includes an exclusive interview and 5 bonus songs after the show went "off the air." They included most of the phone calls in a separate section of the DVD. The only song that was not included was "Method of Modern Love," which was only played for a few seconds in between commercials. I recommend this DVD as, hopefully, one of many to come in the future by the most successful Philly-influenced Pop/Rock duo of all times!

Great Buy! Two Discs: An Audio CD and a DVDNov 07, 2003
Hall & Oates are fantastic, after over 30 years of performing together. This CD/DVD shows them at their best. It's a great concert, based on the "A&E Live By Request" call-in show in spring 2003. This set includes an audio CD of the concert, as well as a DVD with the concert, bonus songs, and an interview. Excellent!!!!!

Everytime You Go Away, Take This DVD With YouMay 31, 2004
By Anthony Nasty After more than 30 years of waiting for an official live document of Hall and Oates in concert, the wait is finally over. "Daryl Hall and John Oates Live In Concert" is actually their A & E Live By Request Show", meaning that the song selection might have been better, but I'm here to rate the performances, not the setlist. The concert kicks off with an electrifying version of "Maneater", which comes off better than the original version. "Sarah Smile" has more of an edge to it thanks to Daryl's rougher - sounding vocals and a more prominent guitar. "Private Eyes" sounds uncannily like the studio version, except for the crowd noises and the sound quality. "Rich Girl" has a nice slow build - up, while the then - new hit "Do It For Love" comes off nicely. "Everytime You Go Away" is heartfelt and fun. I didn't much care for the acoustic versions of "Out Of Touch" and "Say It Isn't So". These are my 2 favorite Hall and Oates songs of all time, and I was hoping for versions that were closer to the original versions. "You Make My Dreams" benefits from great guitar rocks and is my favorite song here. The cover of "Me & Mrs. Jones" features a scorching vocal by Daryl, while "She's Gone" features punchy vocal interplay by Daryl and John. "Forever For You" I really enjoyed, and it was a nice surprise to hear "It's A Laugh" a top 20 hit from 1978 that was all ut forgotten until someone requested it. The finale is a long version of "I Can't Go For That (No Can Do)". The bonus materials features 5 bonus performances, discograph, phone calls and an indepthinterview with the duo. A great show.

worth it for any Hall & Oates fan.....Dec 02, 2003
The best sound and video quality you can get is available with this supurb DVD concert, taped from their recent Live By Request on the A&E television network. They sing every major hit with excellent Dolby Digital 5.1 sound quality! I was very impressed with every technical aspect of this disc. I have many concert DVD's in my collection, this ranks right up there with the top 3 of my entire collection. I highly recommend it for anyone who enjoys Hall & Oate's music.
