Great Show, but poor quality DVDApr 22, 2010
By RJM Music Man
"RJM Music Man"
This show was excellent as it was then dedicated (i.e. the VHS release) to the memory of Paul Butterfield who was one of the key performers here. Other great performers that passed away since were Stevie Ray Vaughan and Albert King (not Albert Collins as one reviewer here mentioned). I have the original VHS tape and this is indeed an inferior DVD. I've given this 5 stars for the performances which were excellent. You had Gladys Knight, Eric Clapton, Billy Ocean, Etta James, Dr. John, Phil Collins, Albert King, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Paul Butterfield, Chaka Khan, and of course B.B. King. If you can't get a hold of a good copy this is still worth watching as it is. VHS SP was ok in the pre-DVD days and of course we're spoiled with DVD quality of today.

This is a bootlegMar 11, 2007
By MrBadExample This is a very sub-par VHS to DVD transfer. Lots of image wobble (probably due to a faulty VHS deck), the sound is barely passable.
Further, it's NOT authorized and thus a bootleg. None of the performers recieve any money from the sale of this disc.
Shame on Amazon for selling bootlegs.

See if for Etta James!Apr 21, 2011
By (Rizzo) Rizzuto Although the DVD was released in 2005, this is certainly from the 80s and not sure where it was recorded, but it is more of an intimate concert setting.
What is really a bonus here is to see Etta James perform! Last time I saw her, she was in a concert setting called Etta James and the Roots Band - Burning Down the House, and the house didn't quite burn. But to watch and hear her sing "I'd Rather Go Blind" is something, and who joins her...Dr. John! And another classic by Etta, "Something's Got a Hold on Me".
The show opens with B.B. "Why I Sing the Blues". Phil Collins plays drums and Eric Clapton is also a guest. A memorable performance by Billy Ocean, with Chaka Khan, "When Something is Wrong with My Baby".
B.B. King does "Midnight Hour" and "Let the Good Times Roll". Gladys Knight, Etta, and Chaka sing "Ain't Nobody's Business" and the three with Billy Ocean, also do a classic gospel "Take Me Precious Lord".
If Stevie Ray Vaughn is your favorite, he, with Paul Butterfield and Albert King perform "The Sky is Crying". Gladys sings does "Please Send Me Someone To Love". Great music for blues fans, great historic performances.... I had not seen Etta perform like this, and it's clear you will not see her like this again If you enjoy live blues performances, see the amazing Lightning In a Bottle: A One Night History of the Blues good quality, great sound, and one of the best blues concerts. ....Rizzo

Reading the other reviews is off putting. IF this is unauthorized, that would be unfortunate. Sorry to hear the quality of the transfer is tricky. I bought two DVD not realizing that it. Perhaps I will return them unopened.

Best Show EverNov 20, 2008
By Mark D. Scott Who cares if it's a bootleg and the quality is not perfect. The artists and songs are!! This is my favorite all time concert DVD. It showcases some of the greatest talents ever. Etta James and Dr Johns "I'd rather go blind" give me chill bumps. To see Albert And Stevie on the same stage is pure magic. I have worn the VHS out. Need the DVD
