Too much Keith WyattNov 02, 2007
By Ecologist_1 It would have been nice to see how to set up a guitar the way Albert Collins set one up. I don't really care about how to play Albert Collins in standard tuning...and why would anyone care, it's hardly necessary.
Way too much Keith Wyatt talking and way too little of Albert Collins relating to the viewer how he plays. A real dissapointment.

Albert CollinsJan 09, 2007
By Ott Sathngam Albert Collins is one of the legend of Blues artist. His performance and his attitude are among the best that make him. It seems that he deserve more popularity than what he is having. I always love and respect the humble musician like him.
Albert Collins (DVD)Oct 18, 2011
By humbleguitarlover I cannot speak highly enough of this DVD .Albert Collins was/is one of the true legends of blues guitar(guitar in general for that matter) and as the DVD highlights he had a sound, touch, feel and personality all very uniquely his own. Keith Wyatt does a great job in asking all of the right questions relating to Alberts playing and Collins is gracious, humble giving and at times humorous in his responses Some things that will be of interest to fellow guitar players include - * Albert went straight into his amp no effects * His (Fender) amp settings were Volume 10, Treble 10 while bass and mid were on zero with the reverb cranked! * Albert used on his right hand mainly his thumb and index finger and on his left he used mainly his middle two highly unorthodox but it sure worked for him!
There is also a great section entitled "call and response" where Albert will play a lick then leave some space for you (the viewer) to respond. This challenges you to come up with something interesting and hopefully unique as everything Albert plays is just that and more-a hard act to follow
There is also many chances to see Albert perform live with Keith Wyatts band in front of an audience of fellow guitar lovers. This proves interesting on many levels but a few to note would be
* Albert leaves the other guitarists for dead(sorry Keith) his touch ,tone ,phrasing and signature lines are quality's that every lover of guitar spends a lifetime searching for * A line often heard in guitar circles is "its all in the hands" -all I can say is watch this DVD to find out why! * Albert does his signature gesture of walking off stage (with a long lead) and into the crowd .In this case he sits down in amongst them and dazzles and humours all with his very conversational style of guitar
Speaking of which there is a section where Albert discusses his "talking" style of guitar which is highly informative and entertaining
This is a great DVD of a very unique guitar player and many times Alberts lines left me "cracking up" at the funky humour and rhythms of his phrasing
If you prefer to skip some of the longer sections where Keith Wyatt discusses Albert then mark down the sections you like and drag the slider on your PC/Laptop accordingly
Would give this DVD 10 out of 5 if I could for the playing and the inspiration factor Time to shelf the books on scales and arpeggios for a (good) while and make some real music!
