5This Case Deserves a New InvestigationOct 30, 2007
By Stephen Palmer
This movie is very powerful, and it delivered on the promises that were made by the producers. It puts to rest many of the legends and theories which surround the death of Tupac Shakur, and brings us facts. Even hardcore Tupac fans will learn things in this move that they likely didn't know.

The film is told mainly from the point of view of the bodyguards, who were there when the events of September 7, 1996 transpired. I had always felt that the Suge Knight/Death Row theory was the most likely explanation, and this film agrees with me. In Ancient Rome, when a trial for a crime was held, one question would be asked, which was "Cui Bono" or Who Benefits?

The people who benefited from Tupac's death the most are Death Row, Suge Knight, and Reggie Wright. With Tupac out of the way, they could get access to the master tapes, which would allow them hundreds of millions, and in addition to this, they didn't have to worry about paying Tupac the millions they owed him. They had the biggest incentive to commit the crime.

In this movie, veteran police officers also show how Tupac's murder had all the tell tell signs of an assassination. These includes having Tupac's bodyguards not carry weapons, isolating Tupac from most of his bodyguards, and boxing him in at the intersection at Flamingo and Koval, where he was distracted by females while his killers pulled beside on the opposite side, opening fire into the vehicle.

If Tupac's mother, Afeni sees this film, I hope she uses her financial resources to push the Las Vegas courts to take this case to trial. Due to the negligence on behalf of LVPD, Afeni should sue them as well. With all the evidence presented in the film, Tupac's case will be solved once and for all, and he can rest in peace, knowing that his killers have been punished.

I disagree with the previous reviewer that Tupac's case may never be solved. This movie makes it crystal clear who had the motive, opportunity, and resources to carry out the killing, and all we need is for all this evidence to be brought to court, and one of the greatest unsolved murders in history will be solved once and for all.

This film is a must have for all Tupac fans!

52nd Off the HOOK DVD on 2PAC by: PAC's Bodyguard FrankMar 06, 2008
By Makaveli
I thought Before I Wake was the best true account of Tupac by his bodyguard Big Frank, but this DVD documentary really goes into great detail about what really happened that night leading up to Pac being shot. I mean in this DVD the producers showed new footage of Tupac and a lot of documents to back up their information which I and the 20 people at my house when we all watched this incredible true account of Tupac's last day's agreed at the end of the movie. I encourage every Tupac FAN to buy this DVD for their collection and show/share this movie with everyone you can becuase it's a great message at the end of the movie, it really touched the people watching it the night I held a TUPAC FAN Screening at my home (which were my friends)a couple of the girl's cried toward the end of this documentary. Another good job by Pac's bodyguard and it truly show's the LOVE Frank had for his friend to continue after 11 years to give a effort like this to bring closure to Pac's death, my hat goes off to you Big Frank may God Bless You and bring Peace and closure for you and Afeni. As Pac always said One Love my brother.

4Informative and thought provokingOct 26, 2007
By Ryan Schwebel
This documentary covers the events surrounding Tupac's murder in great detail. The bodyguards are interviewed throughout the entire film, posing problems with the police investigation and the lack of security for Tupac on the night he was gunned down. They insinuate that Suge Knight and his security company manager Reggie Wright were involved in a cover-up to assassinate Tupac. Apparently Tupac wanted out of Death Row Records and was owed millions in unpaid royalties. His murder may never be solved but this movie does a great job at posing some interesting questions and making Suge Knight look like a greedy conspirator.

5An eye-opening and compelling investigation of Tupac's murderApr 23, 2011
By Daniel Jolley "darkgenius"
Whether or not you agree with the theory espoused in this documentary, there is no question that it raises a number of very pertinent questions about Tupac's murder and the police investigation that has yet to name a single official suspect in the case. Let me go ahead and state the fact that I've only recently come to recognize the musical genius of Tupac Shakur, so I'm confronting the facts of this case for the first time. That being the case, I can't officially endorse the conspiracy theory laid out in this documentary, but I can say that it makes a lot of sense to me and is certainly something that should be pursued further. As one of the law enforcement experts interviewed herein says, the case should be brought before a grand jury - and let them decide if there is enough information to warrant a court case. Sadly, Tupac's murder has only been tried in the court of public opinion up to this point, and that has only led to all sorts of conspiracy theories about who killed him and whether he is in fact dead and gone. Tupac: Assassination goes a long way toward putting some of those conspiracy theories to rest.

Las Vegas detectives would seemingly have us believe that Tupac was just the victim of a random drive-by shooting. Pushed against the wall, they might throw their hands up and trot out assertions that many of the material witnesses refused to cooperate with the investigation, but it is clear that they did not conduct a thorough investigation of Tupac's murder. This is made clear by the fact that they failed to interview a number of the bodyguards protecting Tupac during his final days. Those important material witnesses finally get to tell their stories here in this documentary. The testimony of Frank Alexander, Tupac's sole bodyguard that night and the co-producer (alongside writer/director RJ Bond) of this documentary, is somewhat problematic because statements he makes here are somewhat contradictory to things he has said in the past (namely his earlier assertion that Suge Knight had nothing to do with Tupac's death). Former bodyguard Michael Moore, on the other hand, strikes me as the most credible of witnesses - and he has a lot to say in terms of a possible motive and the extremely odd security details that led to him being pulled from Tupac's side that fateful night. If everything Moore says is true, the finger of suspicion must certainly be pointed at Death Row Records - particularly Suge Knight (head of the company) and Reggie Wright, Jr. (head of security and acting general manager).

The legal experts featured in this documentary describe Tupac's murder as an almost classic case of conspiracy closely adhering to the general rules of assassination. At the time of the shooting, Frank Alexander was the only personal bodyguard assigned to Tupac - and he had no weapon and no means of communicating with other members of the security detail. Earlier that day, Reggie Wright, Jr., called all of the bodyguards to a meeting in which he instructed them not to carry their weapons with them that night (Moore believes that his refusal to disarm himself led to his being transferred away from Tupac's side). There is reason to suspect that Tupac's fight with Orlando Anderson inside the MGM was staged in order to implicate Anderson in the murder. Finally, the car carrying Tupoc was boxed in at a stoplight on a relatively dark street, making him a sitting duck for the shooter in the white Cadillac that pulled up alongside Tupac's side of the car. The timing and the circumstances for the hit are a direct result of Wright's unusual security decisions that night. Moore supplies a potentially damning piece of evidence, stating that he heard someone say the words "Got him" over Wright's two-way radio just after the shooting.

Why would Wright and/or Knight want to kill their most successful recording artist? There is every reason to believe that Tupac planned to leave Death Row Records to start his own label, and he wanted to take his master tapes with him. Already in debt, the company could not survive if Tupac were to leave in such a fashion. With Tupac dead and his master tapes in their hands, they could make millions from selling his unreleased tracks and would not have to pay Tupac all the money they owed him. Knight's role in all of this remains murky to me (especially given the fact that he was in the car and could easily have been killed himself), but Wright's decisions and actions on that fateful day would definitely seem to earn him a gigantic finger of suspicion.

Whether or not you agree with the theories espoused in this documentary, it does offer a detailed account of how the hit went down and provides important insight into Tupac's final days and hours. It also helps put the lie to some of the conspiracy theories that have long been tossed about concerning Tupac's murder. If nothing else, it helps push the crime more prominently into the national consciousness, and that can only increase the odds that justice will someday be served in the case of the murder of Tupac Shakur.
